Wow, that’s hot! With record-setting temperatures across Halifax, Nova Scotia, this weekend. I think it’s safe to say summer 2013 is finally here. But with that comes the temptation to crank the air conditioner. And, of course, that also means the high cost of keeping cool. Not to mention the negative impact on the environment.

So how do you keep your house or condo cool without the use of an air conditioner? Ok, so maybe nothing is quite as effective as a blast of  good ol’ freeon, but as this article from Treehugger shows you, there are at least 10 old fashioned alternatives to keep you and your home from sweltering–while saving energy, money, and the planet.
